Workshops by world-famous teachers and dancers Marcus Koch and Bärbl Kaufer (Munich, Germany) will take place on 15-18 February. Marcus and Bärbl have been dancing together since 1991, both starting in 1984 as ballroom dancers, but later their hearts became caught by swing forever. Marcus is one of the leaders of the swing dance community of Germany and the founder of the most renowned events Boogie-Baren Witsun Camp (major orginizer until 2000) and Rock That Swing Festival.
Marcus and Bärbl used to live, teach and dance in the USA, learning from and with the famous old-timers who were among the world’s first swing dancers, like Frankie Manning, Gil Bradey, Jean Veloz, Freda Angela, John and Anne Mills, Willie Desatoff, Hal Takier, Bob Hefner, Lee Laitz. They have participated in all kinds of shows and competitions and dance all known styles of swing. Due to the versatility of their dancing talent and the uniqueness of style they have won a great number of competitions and a lot of fans all over the world.
Marcus and Bärbl were the ones to inspire several enthusiasts from Moscow into learning boogie-woogie. Their Russian admirers were the first ones to breathe life into this dance in this country by picking it up from the rare competition and performance videotapes of Marcus and Bärbl. Marcus and Bärbl have been to Russia twice to partake in the 2nd and 3rd Moscow Swing Dance Camps. It would not be an exaggeration to say their contribution to the shaping of Russian swing has been immense.
